Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim coming late 2011

As a niche Japanese RPG player it's not often than you hear me get excited about games coming from western developers. It is even more uncommon to hear me get excited about an entire line of products coming from a western developer.Bethesda is one such developer who time and time again gets me excited.

While the VGA's are definitely not known for their substance or their choice of nominees, one thing they have become quite well known for as of late is their American game reveals. Last week Bethesda took the opportunity in between the lack of any eastern game nominees to announce the Elder Scrolls V. Subtitled Skyrim, this newest Elder Scrolls game was announced with a teaser trailer and little else. details are scarce at the moment but we do know that the game will be more or less a direct sequel to Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Since we last saw an Elder Scrolls game, Bethesda has gone on to create both Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. It is this blogger's opinion that Elder Scrolls IV suffered from a severe lack of pacing and difficulty  scaling, both of which I felt were vastly improved upon in the fallout series. Hopefully Bethesda will take what it has learned in it's recent endeavors and apply it to it's upcoming title.
